Gift Wrapping This Holiday Season

I have been working on what I wanted to do for gift wrapping in my shop this holiday season and here is what I came up with:

Simple, yet pretty and easy for me to do this holiday season! I found this gold raffia, misted some doilies and wrapped the boxes in a vanilla tissue paper.
I am pretty satisfied- hopefully you will be too!

Collection 10-29-2012

Here are some more treasures I have collected over the years. I love these little items- I could spend all day picking through my objects for these little vignettes. I love to think about where they came from, who owned them and who let them go. Ok, enough chatter- here comes the good stuff:

This applique is the most dreamy silver color...

I like IKE...

I love this pink rock and antique hardware...

56 is not my lucky number, but it is now one of my favorites...

Let me know if you have any questions about my collection. I can pretty much tell you anything you would like to know...

A Creation Of Nature

It's no secret that I love all things created by nature. I mean, my jewelry is practically an ode to rocks! Anyway, I had some fun admiring my recent treasure...

I love facets and the way the light reflects off the peaks. Nature is amazing and I don't think there are many man made things in life that are more beautiful.

A Feature!

I just found out that a necklace of mine was featured over on The Royal Bohemian. Lindsay makes the most beautiful jewelry that  I found over on etsy called White Bear Accessories. I love her style- those colors are amazing!!
Thanks Lindsay!

The Elusive Smile

I have determined that one of the most difficult things to catch on a baby is his first smiles. I'm not even talking about the absolute first- just the first several. I think it is because we are too busy cooing and excited that this little being is becoming a real person that we forget to grab a camera. Or the second we put that lens up to our face, we disappear and the baby has nothing to smile at! In any case, I have been trying to get Jacob to smile at my camera for weeks and I finally caught him smiling in his little bouncy chair the other day. This will have to do until I can get him to look directly at me and smile. Do you have any tricks?

First he smiled...

Then I moved in for the close up, and he stuck out his tongue. Anyway, how sweet are those first smiles? I don't know anyone who wouldn't melt at the sight of one...

Jacob Turns 2 Months

Our little mouse turned 2 months old on the 6th of this month. He is still a mellow guy and has regularly been sleeping 7-8 hours at night. We can hardly believe our luck! He started smiling at 6 weeks and loves to do so at his family and the ceiling fan.

He has chubbed out and we can already see his eyes turning from grey to brown. He still doesn't nap well during the day (20 to 30 minutes at a time), but if we get a full nights sleep, we will take the short naps.

We are loving this guy a little more everyday. We are really a family of four and are having fun! It can only get more exciting from here on out.

Decorating Style

One time a brother of a friend came to our house for a party. He took one look at the baby doll head candles on my mantle and told me I was weird. I was hurt and a little embarrassed and until then I had been pretty proud of the technique I used to create those candles. I had been working on making candles from molds of vintage items and coloring them with bright colors. I had four heads on vintage teacup saucers lined up and I thought they looked pretty cool.

I guess not everyone gets my style. Especially around here. When I lived in Jacksonville I had some people to create and bounce ideas off of and I miss that living here. I definitely find I turn to the  blog world and pinterest to gain inspiration. Do you have people in your day to day life that inspire you?

Anyway, I was going through my supplies and found my stashed doll heads that I used for molds. I had placed them in an antique sewing drawer and when I pulled them out, I just thought they looked cool. Looking at them reminded me of that boy who thought I was weird and that I shouldn't care so much what others think.

So here they are. Would you think I was weird if you saw candles in the shape of these heads at my house?

If so, I think I am ok with that...

A Sunday Morning Walk

The whole family took a walk this Sunday morning.
It was a feast for our senses, the morning dew sparkling on the avocado plant.

The hum of bees on a flowering tree.

The hard road conrasting with the airy dasies.

Some black seed pods coming up waist high.

Highly satisfying morning.

Some New, Fun Pieces

Once I started with the eggs I had a new idea about how to place the terminated quartz I was working with. I quickly made some new molds and I was off! After a couple false starts and some errors, I got it figured out. Here are some of the brand new pieces from Lemon Grove.

I love the fact that they are all completely unique since I have to place them individually in their bezel.

They remind me of mountain ranges...

I can place them any way I want! So fun!

I am so excited to see the direction that these are gong to take. I already see lots of different possibilities. I hope you like them. If you do; they can be found in the shop.

Hatching Ideas Part 2

I mentioned in a previous post that I was coming up with some new ideas. Well, here is the result of those ideas:

To tell you the truth, I am not sure how I feel about these. I like the way they turned out, but I am unsure of how they will be worn. Also, I wonder how they will handle being worn. They are each coated with 4+ layers of resin on the inside (which took entirely too much time) and you would think that would be enough to keep these fragile eggs together, but they are eggs. Maybe it is just a mental thing- that's why they need to be worn for a while to make sure they are durable.

The good thing about playing is that one idea turns into another and another and sometimes that second or third idea is brilliant.

That is sort of what happened when I started these. Not to say the other new idea is brilliant, but I think it is pretty neat.

The new pieces will be posted soon, I am just having fun working with and perfecting them right now. I love when inspiration hits. I just wish there were more hours in the day and I was getting more sleep at night.

Thanks for humoring me!

Oh, and if you want some absolutely beautiful quail eggs and the like, check out Egg Essentials. Gail was incredibly helpful and sweet!
