Rings and Earrings

I mentioned in a previous post that I was working on some new products for my shop. Well, it looks like the earrings are not going to be added anytime soon and let me show you why:

See that darn little lip on the back side of these earrings? See how uneven and annoying it is? It has been driving me crazy for days weeks months. I don't want to sand each earring to remove that lip. And I won't. Call me lazy, whatever. I just do not have the time to spend in post resin pour to sand, file and then re-mix resin to get rid of that. So until I can figure out a way to get rid of it, the earrings will have to be shelved. Boo. I do like a challenge though so maybe I will figure it out.

The rings however, are ready to go.

New Products

I have been working on a couple new jewelry ideas for the new year in my studio and I finally grabbed some photos of them the other day. I am excited to soon be offering rings and earrings to my product line. Both are still in the testing phases (which means I make some for myself, family and friends, wear them a while and work out the kinks or get feedback on improvements). Here are some of the new pieces in action! I would love to hear what you think!

Published!

One of my goals dreams for my jewelry was to be published in a magazine. This summer I finally bit the bullet and submitted two necklaces to my favorite jewelry publication. What a stressful feeling to really put yourself out there. I have not been that nervous in a long while. To my excitement, both were picked up for an article! After months of waiting and anticipation, my article came out and here is is! I am so honored to be in the winter issue, and thrilled that people all over the country will get to see my work and hopefully make some of their own. 

I love the layout, the photos and everything about this. I am over the moon to be featured! 

Wordless Wednesday

Gift Wrapping This Holiday Season

I have been working on what I wanted to do for gift wrapping in my shop this holiday season and here is what I came up with:

 

 

Simple, yet pretty and easy for me to do this holiday season! I found this gold raffia, misted some doilies and wrapped the boxes in a vanilla tissue paper.

I am pretty satisfied- hopefully you will be too!

Hatching Ideas Part 2

I mentioned in a previous post that I was coming up with some new ideas. Well, here is the result of those ideas:

 

 

To tell you the truth, I am not sure how I feel about these. I like the way they turned out, but I am unsure of how they will be worn. Also, I wonder how they will handle being worn. They are each coated with 4+ layers of resin on the inside (which took entirely too much time) and you would think that would be enough to keep these fragile eggs together, but they are eggs. Maybe it is just a mental thing- that's why they need to be worn for a while to make sure they are durable.

 

The good thing about playing is that one idea turns into another and another and sometimes that second or third idea is brilliant.

 

That is sort of what happened when I started these. Not to say the other new idea is brilliant, but I think it is pretty neat.

 

 

The new pieces will be posted soon, I am just having fun working with and perfecting them right now. I love when inspiration hits. I just wish there were more hours in the day and I was getting more sleep at night.

New Colors and Textures

 

I have been working on some new pieces slowly but surely. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Hatching Ideas

New ideas are starting to swirl in my brain and I am waiting on some new supplies to experiment with. I'm the type that when I have a creative thought I have to jump on it and work on it until I determine whether it will work or not. I don't like to wait because it will be all I can think about. While I watch the mailbox, here is a hint.

 

Up the Pipeline...

 

Here is a little sneak of some upcoming pieces. The colors are a little more fall/winter feeling. I have been playing with some new colors for my resin gemstones and this is what I have come up with. These are unfinished, but you get the idea of what I am going for. Let me know what you think! Any colors you would like to see? I love to experiment, but it seems like a lot of my pieces end up blue.

 

 

Production has been a little slow due to our new little man making his arrival. I have been making a little time here and there in my studio, but it is never enough! These will come along in a couple weeks.

Playing With Photoshop

Photoshop is amazing. Seriously. I cannot believe all the things it can do and more importantly, I can't believe a novice like me can do them!! I had an idea, I googled it (don't get me started on how google changed my life), found a tutorial, and away I went! It may seem like nothing to you, but to me, it is revolutionary.

Here is what I made:

 Next time I would like to figure out how to change the white to a color and would use a less busy picture in the background. It is difficult to see what is there. But overall I am thrilled with the results! I may be posting some more of these soon!
